Open Connectivity Foundation and IoTivity: Standards and Open-Source IoT Accelerator

The Internet of Things (IoT) market today has many proprietary, siloed solutions that do not interoperate and as a result the market is very fragmented and moving slowly. The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), an alliance of multi-segment technology industry leaders, is defining a specification and certification program for devices to communicate and interoperate across multiple technologies and industry verticals, a foundational requirements for IoT. IoTivity, an open source implementation of the OCF specification, facilitates accelerated development of IoT solutions.

This talk will provide and introductory overview to OCF, the specification and certification program, and an overview of IoTivity to show how standards and open source can together deliver interoperable IoT solutions for verticals like home, industry, health, transportation etc. The IoTivity SDK handles discovering and communication between the devices, ensuring security and reliability. The SDK is designed to runs on a spectrum of devices from resource-constrained embedded devices to rich platforms supporting multiple communication interfaces.

Details: Vijay Kesavan of OCF will be on the panel session discussing IoTivity
Location: Fira Montjuic, Barcelona, Spain
