OCF Member Gary Martz will participate in the Connected Home Track: Standards & Protocols – Which Group Will Win the Interoperability Wars?

Currently connected home system products come with hundreds of proprietary protocols or proprietary implementations of pseudo non-proprietary protocols, each implementation designed to support that product only. Today’s system Integrators and others are using multiple gateways and translation devices in order to communicate between devices. All those devices are subject to change with continuous updates and will be obsolete too quickly. This situation delivers functions and products that are not sustainable and are doomed to fail without constant support. Are the new IoT organizations the answer? A panel of industry reps from leading organizations will present an overview of the emerging standards and protocols for smart devices and technologies. This session will separate fact from fiction by discussing strategies that the industry can take to achieve more open standards and true interoperability.
