Chili2 by OCF member Cascoda is an ultra-low-power IoT module that offers secure end-to-end communications, either device-to-device or device-to-cloud.

The module incorporates the OCF’s Secure IP Device Framework and Thread to facilitate secure mesh-networking with rapid development and simple integration with IP networks. OCF’s Secure IP Device Framework is an application-layer protocol that dynamically aligns with baselines for IoT security and privacy regulations, offering peace of mind and enriched experiences for smart home, smart building and smart city applications.

In addition to joint certification for Thread Group and OCF technologies, Cascoda sought radio frequency certification for Chili2 with UL. This case study outlines the certification process and how the challenges of testing to new standards were met.
