Open Technology makes it easy for anyone (from startups to Fortune 500’s) to integrate with banks, retail brands, health care providers, government data, utility data, consumer social apps, or even personal geo-location and preferences via cloud-base integration. Just as opening the web democratizes information, opening technology democratizes intelligence, analytics, business functions, communications, and social activity, and business processes.
There are a few core components of Open Technology:

• Ease of integrating the technology
• Use of standards / interoperability in your industry
• Effort made to integrate with the most common solutions already in use

 Without Standards, There’s No Internet of Anything

The Internet of Things has become a race to the end user with some of the industry’s biggest players competing to connect the next device and unlock the massive opportunity of the IoT market. This innovation boom, however, has not necessarily resulted in cooperation between these tech giants, often making it difficult for end users to build smart ecosystems, resulting in abandoned IoT investments. To realize IoT’s full potential, the industry needs a common language for these devices to discover and communicate with one another.  Enter, IoT standards. In this session, I will discuss the critical need to build a common standard that will foster a collaborative environment across multiple industries in the IoT.
