Project launched to advance interoperability between automotive and other IoT verticals

Portland, Oregon — August 15 —The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), a leading Internet of Things (IoT) standards organization, today announced the launch of the automotive project to provide the technology, standards and collaboration needed to enable interoperability between the automotive and other verticals including consumer electronics, enterprise, healthcare, home automation, industrial and wearables. The OCF Automotive Project will be driven by members from Samsung, Honeywell, Cisco, SmartThings, ETRI, GRL and Tinnos.

The OCF Automotive Project will closely collaborate with existing automotive alliances, open source projects, and standards bodies to define requirements and deliver technology solutions for Interoperability between automotive and other IoT vertical markets.

“We’re looking to expand the automotive industry presence within OCF as it is a rapidly growing and important IoT sector,” said Mike Richmond, executive director, OCF. “We need to ensure the interoperability between automotive and other key IoT segments, and this Project is a significant step in the right direction and fits directly into our OCF mission.
